2019 Honda HR-V
The 2019 Honda HR-V is a subcompact crossover, which means it combines the low price and budget features of a subcompact with the extra height and space of an SUV. It also offers an all-wheel drive system, which is not something you get from most subcompact sedans or hatchbacks. Between that and its Honda dependability, the HR-V is a great choice for many households.
Trim Levels
When you get a 2019 HR-V, you can choose from five trims: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. A budget trim like the LX combines a good price with features like Bluetooth streaming audio and hands-free calls, a multiangle rearview camera, and optional all-wheel drive. The EX trim adds extras like Honda Sensing, a power moonroof, and a 7-inch touch-screen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. As for a top trim like the Touring, this trim offers full leather seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and a satellite navigation system.
Engine
Every model of the 2019 Honda HR-V runs on a 1.8-liter I-4 engine that can offer 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. Almost every trim comes standard with front-wheel drive, but all of them can also come with Honda's intelligent all-wheel drive. This system can shift engine torque between axles automatically when it senses wheels losing traction. For the transmission, the HR-V comes standard with a CVT that helps improve the gas mileage and make the crossover efficient for its class. You can also get paddle shifters on the LX and higher trims so you can shift between the CVT's simulated gears.
Performance
The 2019 HR-V isn't a performance vehicle, but its engine is powerful enough to get drivers from one end of the city to the other without issues. A lot of that comes from the CVT, which smooths acceleration while keeping it efficient. The CVT's simulated gears also reduce the droning noise that kept many drivers away from the first-generation CVTs. Another thing the HR-V offers is the kind of cornering you can only get from a smaller vehicle.
Interior
While the 2019 Honda HR-V is small for an SUV, it's big for a subcompact. That means you get 24.3 cubic feet in the back for cargo, and that number improves to 58.8 cubic feet with the back row folded down. That extra space comes from Honda's Magic Seats, a feature that lets the back seats fold flat for more room or fold up so you can load cargo into the back row. Depending on the trim, the HR-V's interior features can also include heated leather seats, an infotainment system with navigation, HD and satellite radio, and automatic climate control.
Safety Features
The list of safety features on the 2019 HR-V includes LATCH anchors and tethers for safety seats, vehicle stability assist with traction control, six air bags, and electronic brake distribution. Starting with the EX trim, you'll also get the Honda Sensing suite with features like lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, and collision mitigation braking.
