Trim Levels
The new 2019 Passport offers four trim levels: the Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite. The Touring is the high-tech model, while the Elite is fully equipped and comes only with all-wheel drive. All other trims of this spacious, reinforced unibody SUV can have front- or all-wheel drive.
Engine
All models of the Passport have one powertrain: the direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Look forward to 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft torque from this SUV. You'll also have a nine-speed automatic transmission to give you smooth shifts and linear power delivery. The Passport has the power to go off-road. If you go with all-wheel drive, you'll get a sophisticated torque vectoring system that includes a four-mode Intelligent Traction Management. This vehicle's ride height and improved approach and departure angles complement the i-VTM4 system well, and the system delivers a great driving experience. With competitive EPA estimates, the Passport is a great choice for drivers. The two-wheel drive option of the Passport gets you 20-mpg city figures and 25-mpg on the highway, and there's only a slight dip if you opt for all-wheel drive. These models get 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
Performance
That performance carries over to driving on more traditional roads. You'll enjoy sporty steering, making the experience communicative and precise. That goes with the quiet cabin for an easy drive for your everyday routine. Off-road, the Passport gets the job done too. Though it's not the right SUV for serious off-roading, it does well on unpaved roads and in tough conditions like mud, snow, and sand.
Interior
The Passport boasts plenty of interior storage space. Honda adds to storage possibilities in creative ways, letting you haul what you need with its 77.9 cubic feet of cargo room. Beneath the cargo floor, in the rear, you can fit in optional removable plastic bins, which adds 2.5 cubic feet of basement storage. The well-designed cockpit balances touchscreen and physical buttons to make it easy to control key functions like the HVAC and radio volume. You'll find a standard 5-inch display on the base trim Sport, while EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims upgrade to an 8-inch touchscreen. The latter also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. There's also a customizable 7-inch display in the instrument cluster, which has driver information like engine rpm and speed, turn-by-turn navigation, a trip meter, and audio information. Elite and Touring models even offer wireless charging and Wi-Fi hotspot features.
Safety Features
The 2019 Passport delivers on safety. It features Honda Sensing, which is an extensive suite of safety technologies, standard across all trim options. The Honda Sensing suite includes peace of mind-inducing features like a collision mitigation braking system, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assist. If you're looking for versatility combined with high-tech features, the Passport is the way to go.
