The 2019 Honda HR-V is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five, available in three trim levels. These include LX, EX, and EX-L Navi. Exterior equipment on the base trim includes power-adjustable body-color side mirrors, a rear roofline spoiler, LED brake lights, multi-reflector halogen headlights, and 17-inch wheels. Stepping up to the mid-level EX trim adds rear privacy glass, heated side mirrors, fog lights, keyless entry, automatic headlights, and a moon roof. The top EX-L comes equipped with roof rails.
Engine (Power)
Beneath the hood of the 2019 HR-V, you will find a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 127 pound-feet of torque and 141 horsepower. It pairs with a six-speed manual transmission as the standard, although a continuously variable automatic transmission is available as an upgrade.
Performance
This crossover SUV comes standard with front-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive is available as an option. If you choose all-wheel drive, you must upgrade to the continuously variable transmission as well, as the manual transmission is only available with front-wheel drive.With the manual transmission, EPA fuel economy estimates come in at 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, or 28 mpg combined. With the CVT, the estimates go up to 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined. If you choose all-wheel drive, the estimated fuel efficiency is 27 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined.
Interior
<p>All three trim levels of this SUV boast a roomy interior and plenty of cargo space. Front passengers have 39.5 inches of headroom, while the back boasts 38.3 inches. With the seats up, the cargo area measures in at 24.3 cubic feet, although that goes up to 58.8 cubic feet when you fold the rear seats down. Climb into the cabin of the comfortable LX trim of the 2018 HR-V to find a 60/40-split folding rear Magic Seat which folds in unique ways to maximize cargo space illuminated door lock controls, a height-adjustable driver seat, a four-speaker audio system with a USB port and Bluetooth connectivity, a 5-inch central display screen, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel.</br></br>In the middle of the pack, features include heated front seats, keyless ignition, automatic climate control, a 7-inch touch screen, two extra speakers in the audio system, an extra USB port, and HondaLink smartphone app integration. The luxurious EX-L includes leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, HD and satellite radio, and navigation with voice recognition.</p>
Safety Features
Standard safety equipment includes advanced front, front-side, and side-curtain airbags, seat belt reminders for the front seats, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, and a rearview camera. With the upper two trim levels, additional features include Hondas LaneWatch, which offers a low, wide view of the right blind spot when you engage the right turn signal, along with dynamic guidelines for the rearview camera.
