2020 Houston International Film Festival in Houston, TXEvery year there are new movies from new filmmakers that amaze viewers at the 2020 Worldfest Houston International Film Festival. Here’s a list of five things everyone should know before you go to the 2020 Houston International Film Festival.

  1. What Is Worldfest?

Worldfest is the oldest independent film festival in the world. Whether you’re in the film industry or an aspiring director, the Houston International Film Festival is one of the premier events in the country.

There are ten different categories of film competition in the genres of short subjects, theatrical features, film and video productions, TV commercials, television and cable and web productions, scripts, new media, music videos, and experimental productions. The film festival kicks off April 17 and runs for 10 days.

  1. What Types of Movies Will I See at the Festival?

The festival is limited to independent films that have never been seen before. This requirement truly allows for indie filmmakers to be discovered. If a film has already won awards at other festivals or even has been screened before, it will be denied entry.

  1. Who Are Some of the Past Winners?

To be discovered at the Houston International Film Festival would be to join a list of who’s who in Hollywood. Past winners include such great film industry icons as Spike Lee, George Lucas, the Coen brothers, Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, and many more.

  1. How Many Films Will I See?

The festival competition brings the best from all across the country and around the world. With almost 5,000 entries it would be impossible to screen them all in a 10-day time period. Therefore, the judges select only the best to be screened. You can expect to see somewhere between 40 to 50 movies if you attend every screening.

  1. How Much Do Tickets Cost?

There are a number of different tickets available for purchase. Ticket prices begin at $100 for the Film Buff pass. This ticket is a punch ticket which means it can be used by more than one person. It is good for up to 11 premieres. It also includes entry into the opening night world premiere and the closing premiere.

The VIP Silver Screen Pass is $200 per ticket. It includes entry into the opening night world premiere plus the champagne after-party gala. You’ll also have access to the festival club, all other premieres, and get reserved theater seating.

VIP Gold Passes are $500 per ticket. They include all the VIP Silver Screen events, plus you’ll get entry into nine Production Masterclasses, a VIP tour of NASA Rocket Park, the Houston Yacht Club Consular Regatta, the Texas Barbecue, and photo opportunities.

If you want all-access to the festival then you should purchase the VIP Platinum All Festival Pass. It includes all the VIP Gold Pass events, plus you’ll get tickets to the Remi Awards Gala champagne reception and gourmet wine dinner.

If you’re into movies, whether watching them or making them, the Houston International Film Festival is the place to be. There’s so much to see and do that 10 days hardly seems like enough time to do it all.
