Houston Children's FestivalIf you’re looking for a fun family activity this spring, the Houston Children’s Festival should be on your list. It’s the largest children’s festival in the country and also one of the oldest. There are 14 Big Family Adventure Zones, six stages with music and entertainment, and over 300 activities that the kids will love. Here’s a look at some of the must-see happenings at the Houston Children’s Festival.

McDonald’s Dream Discovery Zone

This is the heart of the festival and if McDonald’s is participating, you know you’ll see Ronald, Grimace, and the Hamburglar. Inside the McDonald’s Dream Discovery Zone is an inflatable bounce house the little ones won’t want to leave.

There’s also an inflatable obstacle course, inflatable soccer, and a McDonald’s chili zone where you can sample the finest chili in the region. When it’s time to put the fire out, you can wander over to the McDonald’s smoothie truck and sample some cool and refreshing smoothies. Entertainment abounds on the stage with celebrities like Anthony Gonzalez, the voice of Miguel from the animated film CoCo.

Ashley HomeStore Kids Gaming Lounge

If your kids are into video games, they’ll love the gaming lounge. They can spend hours playing their favorite Xbox video games with friends while lounging on the comfortable furniture provided by Ashley HomeStore.

Diaper Derby

No festival would be complete without some kind of race. This year it’s the Diaper Derby sponsored by Nightlight Pediatrics Urgent Care. Bring your diaper-wearing, crawling bundle of joy and enter him or her in the derby. The tots will crawl their hearts out for a chance to win prizes.

Teddy Bear Clinic

Every kid has a teddy bear, maybe even a few. Now your kids can work with their cuddly friend and learn about basic medical care and first aid at this interactive exhibit sponsored by Signaturecare Emergency Center. Your child can bring in their teddy bear and check their vital signs.

The friendly staff will teach them how to take their temperature, check their heartbeat, and take their blood pressure. They’ll help you diagnose their teddy’s condition and teach them first aid. Maybe teddy needs a band-aid. Maybe he needs a splint. Or perhaps he just needs a hug. Your kids will love learning about doctor checkups in a fun, stress-free way.

SABIC Super Science Zone

This exhibit is another interactive activity the kids will love. Your child can explore science in a fun, creative way at this exhibit which takes place on a covered stage. There are science shows that feature fun chemical reactions, building activities that the kids can participate in, and live shows that will wow and amaze the kids and parents too.

Robotics Academy

Robots are cool, and so is this academy. Sponsored by Metro by T-Mobile, the robotics academy will teach your tots how to design, build, and test robots of all kinds. Experts will demonstrate their own inventions that are sure to inspire the engineer in your child.

The Houston Children’s Festival is filled with fun, family-friendly activities. Bring your kids in and enjoy a fun-filled day that will entertain inspire you and your family.
