3 Places to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in HoustonThis year, on March 17, people with and without an Irish heritage will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day throughout the country. Parades, parties, pub crawls, and more, will be taking place with lots of green and all things Irish. Here are three places in Houston, Texas, where you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family.

Houston St. Patrick’s Day Parade

What better place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Houston than at the city’s annual parade? On Saturday, March 16, the 60th Annual Houston St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at noon. This two-hour event is free to the public and includes lots of fun for all ages. Enjoy creative costumes, exciting floats, and live music while the parade travels through the streets of the city. Don’t miss out on the food vendors in the area who will be serving many local favorites.

Griff’s Irish Pub St. Patrick’s Day Festival

Spanning from March 8 through March 17, the Griff’s Irish Pub St. Patrick’s Day festival is full of fun events that will certainly get you in the spirit of the holiday. First, on March 8, Griff’s 27th Annual Greater Houston Irish Open Golf Tournament will be held at Wildcat Golf Course. Anyone can join the tournament either as an individual, team, or sponsor.

On Saturday, March 9, you won’t want to miss the annual Irish Cook-off. Competitors will be creating some traditional Irish dishes like stews, chilis, chicken dishes, and desserts. Sign up to compete or judge or you can just simply come to enjoy the food prepared. On March 16, Griff’s Irish Pub will be hosting its first Irish Crawfish and Shrimp boil. Come, eat, and enjoy live music throughout the day.

Finally, to wrap up the festivities, the Griff’s St. Patrick’s Day party will stretch all day and night with live music and great food. You’ll also get to enjoy a St. Patty’s Day classic, green beer. Some of the bands playing live at the festival include The Chill, The Grand Ol Grizzly, and The Velostacks.

Lucky’s Pub

Located in downtown Houston, Lucky’s Pub will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Festival on March 17, from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. the next day. Head to Lucky’s for the Leprechaun Drop, which became an instant tradition after its audience reception last year and the subsequent “Tapping of the First Keg.” Visitors will enjoy loads of green beer, live music, great food, and more. If you show up for breakfast at 9 a.m., you can enjoy a beer with a bowl of Lucky Charms!

With more than 15 different bands and DJs booked for the event, there won’t be a dull moment. Grab tickets to make sure you have access to all the fun. A basic ticket, also called a Leprechaun Pass, gets you general admission. Other options include the Pot O’ Gold VIP and the Luxury Lodge VIP, offering access to private areas, complimentary drinks and food, and even some memorabilia.

You don’t have to be Irish to celebrate this fun holiday. No matter your heritage, check out these fun events in Houston this year, and you’re sure to make some great memories.
