Here are four of the best tearooms in town to sip and dine.

Kiran’s 

Join chef Kiran Verma for afternoon tea and sample her famous brewed black tea or boiled masala chai blend. You can even choose from a list of English-based options, such as earl gray, Darjeeling, and honey-orange spritzer. What follows are appetizers like truffle egg salad or smoked salmon sandwiches and desserts like bite-sized petit fours and cranberry and orange scones.

A children’s menu is also provided and offers sandwiches filled with peanut butter and jelly or green apples and chicken, coupled with hot chocolate instead of tea. All afternoon tea services at Kiran’s begin at 2 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, and gluten-free and vegetarian preparations can be made for those with strict dietary needs.

Tea for Two

Enjoy a variety of flavored teas at Houston’s own Tea for Two, a tearoom dotted with Victorian design elements and well-known for its delicious chicken and spinach quiche and diverse house specialties. Other menu items range from chicken salad and grilled cheese sandwiches to a dessert tray filled with rotating pastries to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Those interested in something other than tea can instead indulge in a warm cup of coffee or a refreshing glass of lemonade. A children’s menu is also available for youngsters and includes items such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cheese quesadillas. St. Regis Houston

Located within a prestigious four-star hotel, the St. Regis Houston tearoom boasts a comfortable and cozy lounge adorned with plush seats, ambient lighting, and music provided by the hotel’s resident harpist. Additionally, you’ll find savory tea blends to soothe the soul, including the St. Regis house blend among 24 other local and international brews, as well as loose-leaf teas, chicken salad sandwiches, scones with honey and strawberry jam, and assorted macarons.

If you’re interested in making a reservation, tea services at the St. Regis Houston are scheduled every Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.

Tea Bar and Organics

Organic hot teas, milk teas, and traditional Chinese teapot varieties are among the offerings at Tea Bar and Organics. This cafe specializes in everything from organic teas, such as oolong, chamomile, goji berry, and earl gray, to milk teas, such as honey, coconut, black sesame, and frozen cream.

You can also sample fruit teas such as the lavender Pu-Erh traditional Chinese teapot blend, opt for non-milk teas like brown rice and barley black, or concoct your own brew from a list of 15 flavors, nine toppings, and a handful of sweetness levels.
