Although it’s fall and getting a bit colder, there is no time for curling up on the couch. Houston is bustling with exciting festivals in October that you simply cannot miss. Here are a few things that you should note on your schedule.

This two-day festival is rated one of the top 10 outdoor fine arts festivals in the U.S., and is organized by a nonprofit organization that has raised more than $3.5 million over the years, which has been pushed into local arts and community organizations. Over 300 artists and craftsmen, working in 19 different disciplines, exhibit their work during this festival, which annually draws about 20,000 visitors. This is an event that the whole family can enjoy: apart from the art and crafts, there are also food, drinks, and music on offer.

This festival is located in downtown Houston, and runs Oct. 13-14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry is $15 per adult and $5 per child.

You’ll see plenty of margaritas in exotic flavors such as peach mango, pumpkin spice, green apple, and Lots of Chocolate. To add to the excitement, The Best Margarita Competition will establish who is the best margarita mixologist in town. As if that is not enough, The salsa competition is sure to heat things up, and leave the crowd thirsty for another margarita!

Plenty of entertainment is also on offer, such as Italian musicians, Italian-style bingo, and a pasta-eating contest, as well as a photography contest.
