Find the Best BBQ in HoustonIt’s no news flash that Houston is a great town to find some of the best barbecue you’ve ever tasted. After all, this is cattle country, and our city’s pit-masters have done their homework.

But if you’re looking for the best of the best, there are plenty of barbecue joints to explore. Start your barbecue sauce-fueled adventure at any of these great Houston restaurants.

Ray’s BBQ

Since 1984, Ray’s BBQ has grown into a local favorite, thanks to their expertly made barbecue creations. Their hickory-smoked meats have put them on the map in the barbecue world.

Whether you’re looking for great burgers, sandwiches, fish and shrimp dinners, or just straight-up meat by the pound, Ray’s has you covered. They also have a great selection of classic sides that complete any barbecue dinner.

The Pit Room

The Pit Room is one of the highest-rated barbecue joints in Texas. We never get tired of their great selections, from pulled pork sandwiches to bowls of Texas chili.

One of our favorite parts of the Pit Room’s menu is that it covers all the bases, making it one of the best places to go if you’re trying to feed a family of varying tastes. For barbecue purists, they have choose-your-own dinner plates with your choice of meats: brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, pulled pork, turkey, chicken, and three kinds of homemade sausage. Their other menu items include tacos, chili, salads, desserts, chips, and more. They also have a full beer and wine menu. For the most well-rounded barbecue experience, only the Pit Room will do.

Killen’s Barbecue

For chef-inspired barbecue, head to Killen’s Barbecue. Their menu has your classic bare-bones staples done right.

Brisket, lean brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, turkey, pork and beef sausage, or pulled pork — choose your favorite one (or two, or three) for your plate. Then pick two sides: baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, mac and cheese, or cream corn. If you want a sandwich, they have a few selections, but that’s about all you can get here. When you have the perfect barbecue joint, you don’t need five pages of menus if you’re doing it right. That’s why we love Killen’s Barbecue.

Pinkerton’s Barbecue

Slow-smoked on offset oak- and mesquite-burning pits, that’s the way it should be done. We love a barbecue joint that would still be in business without gas and electricity.

Pinkerton’s Barbecue does justice to our barbecuing ancestors with their meats. They have everything you expect from a good barbecue restaurant, and then some. Start off with boudin and dry rub pork ribs with a side of jalapeno cheese rice before moving onto one of their great desserts, such as Aunt Ruby’s Blueberry Cobbler. Pinkerton’s has the barbecue experience down to a science with their fantastic offerings.

Finding your new favorite barbecue joint should be quick work as you explore these top-notch restaurants. Whether you’re a Memphis, Carolina, Kansas City, or true-blue Texas barbecue aficionado, there’s a perfect spot waiting for you in Houston.
