Celebrate Father's Day in Houston, TX  - Russell & Smith HondaFather’s Day is a great time to get together with your father or your kids and do something new and exciting. Here are some fun things you can do to celebrate Father’s Day as a family.

Houston Symphony

Over Father’s Day weekend, you can watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban while listening to John William’s score, performed by the Houston Symphony. While the movie is being projected in high definition, you can listen to the live orchestra and feel transported into the world of Harry Potter. There are shows on June 15, 16, and 17 at Jones Hall. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Woodlands Children’s Museum

Families can attend the Woodlands Children’s Museum’s event called Dads, Dinos & Donuts on Saturday, June 16th from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for a private Father’s Day event. You are invited to enjoy breakfast donuts, meet a life-size dinosaur, and make a dinosaur hat. RSVP in advance;  tickets are $5.00 plus to admission to the museum. Dads get free admission all day.

Daddy Daughter Dance

The Daddy-Daughter Dance at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum is a great opportunity for fathers to create special memories with their daughters as they have a fun night on the dance floor. There will also be a marketplace with locally owned businesses that cater to young girls aged 8-18 years of age. Tickets are $35.00, and the event takes place June 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

George Ranch Historical Park

This Father’s Day weekend, on June 16th, visit George Ranch Historical Park and try your hand at a Frontier Survival Class and Blacksmith Workshop. The survival class takes place at 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Learn skills that are necessary as a pioneer like firing a cannon and living on the Texas prairie. Each session has room for 30 participants and is first come, first served at the 1830’s Jones Stock Farm.

Also, try your hand at blacksmithing with the Behind-the-Barrier Blacksmith Workshop. The workshop happens at 10:00 a.m., noon, and 2:00 p.m. Participants get to join the blacksmith behind the barrier and learn the basics of blacksmithing. The course is $30.00 per person, and reservations are required.

Father’s Day Breakfast at Hermann Park

Treat Dad to breakfast at Hermann Park on Father’s Day. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 17th at the Pinewood Cafe. After breakfast, you get to enjoy a ride on the Hermann Park Railroad, as well as participate in a fun arts and craft activity as well as a pedal boat ride. You need to purchase tickets in advance for this event, and you can get more information at the Hermann Park website.
