Coffee Shops in Houston, TXWhether you’re looking to impress a date, catch up with friends, or put in a good study session, you can’t go wrong with sitting down for a cup of Joe. Visit one of these four high-quality coffee houses when you need a change from your usual haunt.

Siphon Coffee

If you’re in the mood for something trendy, stop by Siphon Coffee. It has a unique method for preparing the coffee: It uses halogen burners. It also has a larger food selection than the average coffee shop, which is useful when your study session goes on longer than expected. Menu items include breakfast tacos and various paninis and salads.

This coffee house is located on West Alabama Street, and it stays open until 9 p.m. every night except Saturday and Sunday when it’s open until 10 p.m.

Blacksmith

Just as the name implies, Blacksmith is a place where the food and drinks are handcrafted. It serves barista-made coffee as well as tea, hot chocolate, and soda. It’s small and cozy inside with more seating outside. Don’t know what to try? The cane sugar latte is popular, as are the biscuits with crème fraîche and marmalade. Blacksmith is on Westheimer Road, and it’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Paper Co. Coffee

Maybe you’re not in the mood for a coffee but still want something caffeinated. In that case, Paper Co. Coffee on Elder Street is the place to go. According to a review in the HoustonPress, it serves one of the best chai lattes in the city. Another cool aspect of this place is the “common meal” that’s on the menu each day. This meal is available on a sliding scale so people of all income levels can afford it. If you pay extra, those proceeds go towards helping the local homeless community.

Paper Co. Coffee is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention that the coffee is also worth trying (of course): Everything is roasted in-house.

The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar

The next time you’re out late and don’t know what’s still open, visit The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar in downtown Houston. Its dinner menu and cocktail selection allow it to stay open later than most other coffee houses. Maybe your date is going especially well and you need a place to stay up late talking. Or, you could be meeting a friend for an afternoon coffee. This place works well either way.

Choose a cold-brew coffee like the toddy mocha or grab an espresso with house-made syrup. Go classic with a mint julep. For something a bit different, try one of the coffee cocktails, such as Leather Elbows. The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar is open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, 11 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 p.m. on Monday and Sunday.

And there you have it, four of our favorite places to grab coffee in Houston. What’s your favorite coffee house?
