Molina’s

Molina’s was serving Tex-Mex cuisine well before it became a trend. Established in 1941, this Mexican spot has catered to locals, tourists, and even former President Bush. The service is friendly, the food is affordable, and the menu is expansive and has every Mexican-inspired dish you might crave. Must-try items include Jose’s Ground Beef Dip and the Stuffed Poblano Pepper.

If you can’t choose just one entree, try the Mexico City Dinner which consists of tamales, enchiladas, and more. If you don’t want to wait for a table, Molina’s also has a full carryout menu with the same delicious entrees you can get when dining in.

Hugo’s

Hugo’s is conveniently located in the Montrose area of Houston in a historical building from 1925. It combines traditional Mexican flavors with unique culinary twists. A few of the most popular dinner items on the menu include the slow-cooked Pork Carnitas and the wood-grilled steak Carne Brava. Hugo’s also attracts a significant brunch audience with authentic Mexican dishes, desserts, and a full cocktail list. Brunch takes place every Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 pm. and includes live musical entertainment by the house band.
