Honda Civic in Houston, TXThe Honda Civic, a long-time favorite among American motorists, is particularly popular with the millennial generation. According to a survey by AutoList, the Honda Civic tops the list of cars favored by millennials. It’s not hard to see why. It’s compact, stylish, and affordable. With three models — a sedan, hatchback, and coupe, each with five trim levels — there are plenty of options to suit every type of buyer.

The Compact Sedan

If budget is a big factor, opt for the Civic Sedan. With a starting MSRP of $18,840, it’s the lowest priced of the three Civic models and the most fuel-efficient.

The base LX is the no-frills choice offering limited features like automatic climate control and a multi-angle rearview camera. As you move up the five trim levels, more features like a one-touch power moonroof, decklid spoiler, heated front seats, leather-trimmed interior, and auto on-off LED headlights become available.

A sixth trim is available on the sedan in 2018. The Si is the choice for those looking for a track car. It features more aggressive “racer” looks, a 205-horsepower engine, a center-outlet sport exhaust integrated with the rear diffuser, helical limited-slip differential, a rev-limit indicator and G-meter, and a sport mode. At $24,100, it comes in lower than the top-of-the-range Touring trim.

The Cheeky Hatchback

The Civic Hatchback made a comeback in 2017 and continues into the 2018 lineup. With its turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, expect swift acceleration when you hit the race-inspired sport pedals. A quick-shifting, six-speed manual transmission is standard on the LX and Sport trims, and paddle shifters are available on the Sport and Sport Touring trims. This makes the hatchback perfect for enthusiastic drivers.

Music lovers will love cruising around in the Sport Touring trim. It features a powerful 540-watt, 12-speaker audio system that includes a 75-watt subwoofer to pump out your tunes.

The hatchback is the priciest of the three models ranging from MSRP $19,900 for the base LX to $28,500 for the Sport Touring. The mid-range EX trim is a good choice. Features like smartphone integration, a seven-inch touchscreen, moonroof, and remote engine start are offered while still being affordable at an MSRP of $23,000.

The Sporty Coupe

The sporty two-door Civic Coupe has a wide stance, sleek lines, and swooping roof. Enhancement options for your Coupe include a wing spoiler, splash guards, and swap the 16-inch wheels for snazzier 17-inch wheels. Choose the bold Energy Green Pearl color and you’re sure to make a statement on the roads.

Techies who enjoy a touch of convenience can add a wireless charging pad. For an extra adrenalin rush and edgier styling, the Si trim is also available on the Coupe. The Coupe is ideal for the young person looking to wag their tail in a frisky car.

Overall, the Civic is a well-balanced car that’s fun to drive. It offers a smooth ride with a spirited engine and responsive steering. For those with a small family, the compact sedan with spacious trunk is more than adequate. Footloose singletons can happily zip around in either the coupe or hatchback.
