Honda Civic Type-R in Houston, TXAlthough it’s available overseas, the Honda Civic Type-R has never been sold in dealerships in the United States. However, Honda announced that this is about the change as the 2017 Civic Type-R hits the American market. Discover the exciting features available on this race-ready car that has fans so excited.

Low and Wide Body

The 2017 Type-R will be on the 10th-generation Civic platform. It will offer a low, wide body that’s perfect for hugging turns. The track-tested aerodynamics kit will come with a rear diffuser, wing, vortex generators, and front and side splitters that will all help keep the vehicle firmly planted on the pavement.

The center-exit triple-exhaust tip system gives a distinctive and throaty growl that will announce your presence. Finally, the bold angles and aggressive body will sit on top of 20-inch black alloy wheels that add plenty of extra style and perfectly frame the large, red brake calipers. The Civic Type-R is only available as a hatchback model.

Racing-Inspired Interior

Climb inside the 2017 Honda Civic Type-R and you’ll find yourself surrounded by touches that feel right at home on the racetrack. The customizable digital meter display shows you track times, g-forces, and boost pressure so you can make adjustments and maximize your performance on the next trip around the track.

Take a seat in the lightweight bucket front seats and you’ll feel like you’re sitting in a racecar. The seats are perfectly molded to keep you in place when going around a hard corner, yet still offer plenty of softness to keep you comfortable on your daily drive. The touches of red you’ll find throughout the entire interior just add to the excitement of the vehicle.

Heart-Pounding Power

The most important part of the new Civic Type-R is what you’ll find when you lift the hood. Here you’ll get a 2.0-liter i-VTEC turbocharged engine that’s exclusive to the Civic Type-R. This engine generates an impressive 305 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Driving enthusiasts will be even more pleased to learn that the engine pairs with a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle comes with automatic rev-matching, but you can turn off this feature if you’re interested in feeling complete control over your drive.

Three Driving Modes

Take the Civic Type-R for a spin, and you’ll notice that you can choose from three driving modes: comfort, sport, and +R. Each mode adjusts the vehicle’s steering, suspension, throttle response, traction control intervention, and rev-match rapidity. Comfort mode is the least aggressive setting and softens these controls. Sport mode sharpens everything, and the +R mode takes all the controls to the limit.

Unique Engineering

The Honda Civic Type-R comes with an adaptive damper system that controls the suspension so you can enjoy tight handling and stability whether you’re on the track or the road. Additionally, you’ll get a limited slip differential that provides better control and tighter cornering when you’re behind the wheel.

As Honda continues to release more information about the new Civic Type-R, it’s easy to see why fans are already excited for this new addition.
