Being one of the most well-known family sedans in the market, it’s no wonder why Honda decided to up the ante on the Accord for the 2018 model year. Being the 10th generation Accord, this sedan will be completely redesigned. What are some of the key upgrades buyers and consumers can see in the 2018 Honda Accord? An all-new platform, Honda Sensing (Honda’s Safety System), new turbocharged engines, and a vastly improved exterior design. While there are plenty more rumors floating out there, we’re here to give you the highlights of everything new that can be found in the 2018 Honda Accord. Read on to find out what they are!
Exterior Appearance
Featuring a low-slung design (similar to the Civic), this new Accord also receives a new front grille complete with a broad chrome wing that sits above a larger front air intake port. Basically, this new front end makes the Accord look more aggressive and stylish. This bold design also features LED headlights and taillights, an aerodynamic shape, strong lines, and will be two inches longer and 0.6 inches lower than its predecessor, all of which help to modernize this sedan.
Engine Power & Performance
Get ready to rev that engine! The new Accord adds three engines to the mix, all of which will make this sedan fun to drive while also being more efficient. The 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder base engine is one that is now seen in the Civic and the CR-V. Generating 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, this engine is paired with either a six-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Another available engine includes a two-motor hybrid that is based off the 2.0-liter engine that currently resides in the Accord Hybrid, which will see 252 horsepower.
The all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is the one receiving all of the recent news stories. Being one of the most powerful engines in its class, Honda will pair it with a custom 10-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. While numbers aren’t official yet, we know that this engine definitely won’t disappoint.
Interior Amenities
Inside all 2018 Accords, drivers will be met with a redesigned instrument panel that gives way to the new 8-inch touchscreen audio system complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Including high-quality and soft-touch materials, stepping inside this sedan will lead you to think that you’ve stepped into a world of luxury and convenience.
Safety
Another one of the coolest new additions to the 2018 Accord is the standard Honda Sensing System. Featuring collision mitigation, automatic braking (when needed), lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and more, drivers can rest assured that they will never be safer when driving on the road.
